The Alternative
It's no big deal. Everyone does it. Now Rob has done it too. Died.
The last time I saw him, the sun was shining on his face. He was quiet but sounded hopeful. Dead man walking.
He had stopped talking about the future, though.
I heard about his illness a few days before I saw him. He came out knowing we would all know. Abrave man; as if he had a choice.
I wrote to him and heard nothing back. Sometimes nothing has a meaning.
Then the call last night, which left me saddened but not surprised. I called others, and they were both saddened and surprised. I'll lay off on any more of those calls till after the weekend.
He wanted to go away and start over in a better place. I hope he's done so.
